Governance Updates 10/04/07
On Thursday, October 4, volunteers at GAO Headquarters and in Field Offices met to continue developing a proposal for elected Interim Council. Currently, the group of volunteers is deliberating on proper the number of representatives to be seated on the Interim Council.

The meeting included the announcement of a Communications Committee tasked to address how to effectively distribute information to volunteers and the bargaining unit. An Election Committee tasked with developing a proposal for union officer election procedures has also been created.

IFPTE is currently working with the Office of the General Council (OGC) to identify all ongoing employee work groups and is making the appropriate appointments to keep these groups engaged with management. IFPTE is also in discussions with the OGC on how union-represented employees can charge union-related duties to official time. Meanwhile, GAO management is in the process of delivering the most current and accurate list of employees in the represented bargaining unit to IFPTE.
