Proposed GAO Anti-Workplace Violence Order: Your Comments Needed!
This is an important announcement
to all GAO Analysts and Specialists: the GAO Employees
Organization (the GAO Union) is seeking all GAO Analysts’ comments
on the proposed new Order 2711.2 prohibiting workplace violence. This is an important opportunity for
you to submit your comments on GAO's Office of Inspector General.
The new Order is available here <click on this link>.
The GAO Union needs your feedback!
As a GAO analyst or specialist, and a member of the bargaining unit
-- including both Union members and those who are not yet a member --
the Union is collecting your comments so that we can provide more
informed feedback on behalf of GAO's Analyst and Specialist
community.
Please feel free to offer comments on any aspect of this Order, with
a particular focus on those highlighted sections that relate to
employees.
We will collect your comments until
Thursday, September 23, 2010, in order to synthesize them and submit
them to GAO management. Please email your comments to us at
gaoanalysts@ifpte.org,
or contact one of your Union
representatives. THANK YOU!
EXTENDED DEADLINE: GAO Office of Inspector General: Your Comments Still Needed -- Submit them until September 15!
Due to the Outlook transition--and the importance of the topic--GAO
management and the GAO Union have extended the deadline for your
comments on the new GAO Order on the GAO IG until Wednesday, September

Happy Labor Day! From Your GAO Union
As we approach Labor Day -- as well as the third anniversary the
September 19, 2007, vote that brought into existence of your GAO Union
-- it is a great time to reflect on our recent past and our continuing
work. Working in concert with representatives from GAO
management, the GAO Union is nearing completion of a master contract
that will rewrite all of GAO's personnel orders and establish new
opportunities for GAO analysts and specialists to benefit in their
careers and their work life.
As you know, The GAO Union, as a federal Union, does not have the power
to strike, or to picket, or barricade the Watchdog Café.
Your Union is effective because the Union legally gives all of us—GAO's
Analysts and Specialists—two specific abilities:
1) the legal right to ask questions of management about decisions that affect our work, and
2) the ability for analysts to communicate to management, Congress, and the public with an independent, democratic voice!
Over these last two years, you have seen many appeals for volunteers --
and now is a better time than ever to get involved with your
Union. For more information, please contact any one of your elected GAO Union representatives.
