GAO Union Testifies Before House Subcommittee for 2011 GAO Appropriations
Today,
Wednesday 24, 2010, the GAO Union was invited to testify before the House Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch of the Committee on Appropriations, in the House of Representatives, in support of GAO's 2011 appropriation.
This year's GAO Union testimony took on greater significance, because this year's GAO appropriations hearings--which are usually held in May--occurred
earlier in the year. According to Subcommittee staff, the hearing
was held earlier so that the Subcommittee could benefit from employee
input earlier in the appropriations process. They felt that when
the hearing is held in May, the process is too far along to make any
changes based on employee input.
In addition, because the Subcommittee asked the GAO Union to testify
late last Thursday, February 21, GAO Union representatives worked
against tight time frames to meet the needs of the Congress. Many thanks to those Union members who worked through the weekend to prepare the testimony!
The written verison of the GAO Union's testimony is found at this link.
